Brian J. Smith graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Kent State University in 1996. He then earned his law degree from the University of Akron School of Law, where he graduated summa cum laude in 2005. During his time at Akron, Mr. Smith contributed to the Law Review as an associate and had an article published in 2005. After graduation, while working at a labor union law firm, he also served as an instructor at Akron, helping law students develop their skills in legal research, writing, and oral arguments. Additionally, Mr. Smith received several accolades while studying at Akron, including the Ernest Karam Award of Academic Excellence, the Federal Bar Association Constitutional Law Award, and multiple Excellence for the Future Awards.
Personal
When Brian steps away from his legal career, he dedicates his time to being the father of three growing young adults. He is a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Huron and often visits the Sorrowful Mother Shrine in Bellevue. Together with his children, Brian eagerly anticipates outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking, fishing, playing fetch with their vizsla-mix rescue dog, Duke, barbecuing, and exploring his passion for photography.
